OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Minimize

Most people think of Occupational Therapy as preparing someone to re-enter the work force after injury. What does this have to do with kids? A kids "job"  is to play, go to school, and learn basic activities of daily living. Our Occupational Therapists use their unique expertise to help children with developmental, social-emotional, cognitive and adaptive challenges by focusing on fine motor and self-help skills so that children can be successful at their highest level of function. An Occupational Therapist undertands the impact of disability, illness, injury, participation restrictions, and sensory or cognitive issues on a child's development, as well as trouble with motor planning skills and the ability to learn new skills. Occupational Therapy treatment includes designing interventions that promote healthy development, establish needed skills and/or modify environments to support participation in daily activities that support health, well-being and quality of life.

PHYSICAL THERAPY Minimize

A Physical Therapist evaluates and treats people with health issues resulting from injury or disease. They assess joint motion, muscle strength, range of motion, endurance and the ability to perform activities required in daily living, as well as assist with rehabilitation to attain previous functioning levels after an illness or injury. Our Physical Therapists believe that children should have the opportunity to interact with their peers at their highest possible functional level. They focus on the strength, balance, range of motion, endurance and coordination needed for gross motor activities that children experience in their every day lives, such as walking, running and jumping. Our Physical Therapists also believe in helping children find creative ways to participate in day-to-day activities that they might shy away from.

SPEECH THERAPY Minimize

Communication comes in all forms and is an integral part of a child's ability to form relationships and flourish developmentally. Our Speech Language Pathologists treat kids with language and speech impairments or disorders, whether rising from physiological or neurological distrubances, as well as difficulties with, or deficits in language, articulation and cognition. Treatment plans focus on remedial programs designed to restore or improve communication efficacy. Our Speech therapists are also skilled in the areas of oral motor aversion and/or dysfunction and feeding difficulties. Oral motor therapy also focuses on the three structures for speech function: the jaw, lips and tongue. Speech therapists may use oral motor exercises focused on those three structures to assist with speech clairty. Feeding treatment includes the development of a program to insure that a child's diet can fuel daily activities and meet nutritional needs.
